Because the Messages tab is the first tab you see when the Validate yard model form opens, it includes consolidated information on any errors that N4 has encountered during the validation process. In particular:
If no tab includes errors, the message 'Yard model has no errors.' displays.
If any of the tabs includes errors, the message 'Yard model has errors' displays. In addition:
If the Stack Blocks tab includes errors, the next message reads: 'There are stack blocks referring to obsolete Bin Names. Please correct under the Stack Blocks tab.'
If the Yard Sections tab includes errors, the next message reads: 'There are yard sections referring to obsolete Bin Names. Please correct under the Yard Sections tab.'
If the Block Name Scheme tab includes errors, the next message reads: 'There are blocks that do not have matching user and internal naming schemes. Please correct under the Block Name Scheme tab.'
If there are no vertices defined in the Vertex form, the message reads: 'This Yard Model has no vertex defined. Yard Model should have at least one vertex defined'.
If yard blocks have bad geometries, the message reads: 'Yard model has errors. The following yard model blocks have corrupt geometries: {0}. Please regenerate geometries for these blocks specifically or for the whole yard model if more convenient.'
To start XPS, the yard model must have at least one vertex defined in the Vertex form.
If Yard Editor throws a null pointer exception error when you validate the yard model, this error may be related to missing prestage locations. In this case, edit the track plan and add the missing prestage locations using the Prestage Location form (Models Yard Models
Yard Models view
Actions
Open Yard Editor
Yard Editor view
Right-click track plan
Edit Track Plan
Track Plan form
Right-click prestage group
Edit

Add prestage location). See Set up for operations with rail transfer zones in the Navis N4: Rail: Administrator and User Guide manual for more information.
When you resolve errors displayed on other tabs, the information on the Messages tab refreshes automatically. For example, if errors on the Block Name Scheme tab get resolved, the Messages tab no longer displays the Block Name Scheme error information.
In addition, the Messages tab lists all duplicate bin names in the yard model and any track plans that have prestage groups and prestage locations but no rail tracks. For information on resolving duplicate bin names, see Handle duplicate bin names (on page 1) in the Navis N4 How Do I manual.
N4 tolerates duplicate bin names based on YRDCORE001 (ALLOW_DUP_BIN_NAME_FOR_YARD_SECTIONS) (on page 1).
